About

Welcome to Library Artisan. This blog is named for all things library, and especially cutting through the red tape of tradition to find and reinforce the reasons behind our actions, lending a interested ear, an inquiring mind, and a solid service commitment to reference work, readers’ advisory, and program participation–the kind of care and attention to craft that true artisans bring to their work.

This semester, my final one in library school, I am taking a class called Introduction to Information Resources and Services, and as part of our class we are each keeping a portfolio of our thoughts on various topics relating to reference work. This blog will serve as my portfolio, as well as a place for me to air my thoughts about library and reference services and reflect on my learning process. Since part of the idea of the portfolio is to help us monitor our understanding and track our progress as we learn, I hope you will please forgive my inevitable displays of public ignorance as I write about these things.
